Your staircase is the first thing people see when they walk into your home.
Worn treads. Dull handrails. A finish that's been patched, painted over, or simply given up on. If your staircase has seen better days, we can bring it back — properly, not just temporarily.
Whether it's a Victorian staircase that needs stripping back to bare wood and refinishing with a finish true to its age, or a newly installed oak staircase that needs colour-matching to your specification — we work on-site, at your home, across London and the Home Counties. Handrails and banisters restored to their original beauty. Minimal disruption beyond one day.
The result? A staircase you're not embarrassed to walk guests past.

Double Sweeping Staircase, Oxfordshire Mansion
Interior Design: Sara Agar Interiors
The Brief
Sara Agar Interiors commissioned us to finish a double sweeping oak staircase in a newly refurbished Oxfordshire mansion. Originally carpeted, the staircase needed meticulous preparation, custom grey staining, and a durable finish that would complement the home's refined interiors.
The Work
Every pinhole from the previous carpet installation was filled by hand. The oak was sanded to a perfectly smooth surface. A custom medium grey stain was mixed to Sara's specification and sample-approved before application. The finish allows the oak grain to remain visible, creating warmth and depth rather than a flat appearance.
The Result
A staircase that feels as though it was always part of the original design. The finish is durable, elegant, and executed to the exacting standards required for a project of this calibre.

FAQs
How much does staircase restoration cost?
1
Every staircase is different — size, condition, and the finish you want all affect the price. Send us a photo or video and we'll give you a clear, honest quote the same day and arrange a visit from a polisher. Most full staircase restorations and finishing are completed in a 2-4 days by two craftsmen working on-site.
Can you restore a Victorian or period staircase?
2
Yes — period staircases are a speciality. We strip back to bare wood and refinish with a finish true to the age and character of the staircase. We can match existing finishes or advise on the right period-style option for your home.
Do you POLISH newly installed staircases?
3
Yes — we work on new staircases as well as restoration. Whether it's a newly installed oak staircase that needs finishing to specification, or a handrail that needs colour-matching to your existing interior, we can apply the exact finish you're after.
Do you restore handrails and banisters too?
4
Yes. Handrail and banister restoration is included as part of our full staircase service. We strip, stain, and lacquer to match the rest of the staircase, or finish to your exact specification.
We cover all of Greater London and the Home Counties — including Chelsea, Kensington, Islington, Mayfair, Richmond, Wandsworth, Fulham, and across Surrey, Essex, Hertfordshire and beyond.
Most staircases are completed within 2-3 days. Larger or more complex projects may take longer. We'll give you a clear timeframe when we quote
